Topic: "Intellectual Property 101"
Presenter: Scott Austin, J.D., Roetzel & Andress
Many of our members represent charitable organizations that own significant intellectual property, such as patents, trademarks and copyrights. It is also possible that a potential donor could propose a gift of any of these assets, and such a gift could be quite valuable. To even begin to analyze what intellectual property our organizations already own, or what they might receive as a gift, we need to know how each type of intellectual property works: their basic definitions, what rights come with them, and what we have to do to maintain those rights. Scott Austin, an experienced intellectual property attorney in the Columbus office of the law firm of Roetzel & Andress, will speak on this topic at our May 5 meeting, again at The Columbus Foundation.
